Community Leadership
Putting decisions back in the hands of the people who understand their community best.
- Our Approach
Real Change Starts With Local Leadership
Lasting development doesn't come from outside solutions handed down to a community it comes from within, led by people who understand their community's needs, history and culture better than anyone else. Our Community Leadership programs invest in exactly that: training and supporting local leaders to guide their own community's development.
We work with local leaders, elders and civic representatives, equipping them with the skills to organize their communities, coordinate with local and humanitarian systems, and lead problem-solving efforts from within. We also focus specifically on making sure representation is inclusive women, youth and other marginalized groups too often get left out of community decision-making, even though research shows their involvement leads to stronger, more relevant outcomes for everyone.
By strengthening local leadership structures, we help communities build a lasting capacity to organize, advocate and make decisions long after any outside program ends. Because when a community leads its own development, that progress tends to stick.
