Teacher Development

Investing in the teachers who keep learning alive in the hardest-to-reach communities.

  • Our Approach

Strong Teachers, Stronger Classrooms

A classroom is only as strong as the teacher standing in front of it. In many of the communities we work with, qualified teachers are scarce especially in remote, conflict-affected or displacement-hit areas. Our Teacher Development programs close that gap by training and supporting local educators to deliver quality, consistent learning.

We work with community members often with limited formal teaching experience and equip them with the skills, materials and ongoing mentorship needed to run effective classrooms. Training covers everything from basic literacy and numeracy instruction to child-friendly teaching methods, classroom management, and support for children affected by trauma or displacement.

Beyond initial training, we provide continuous coaching and refresher sessions, because teacher development doesn't end after a single workshop. Well-supported teachers stay longer, teach better, and give children the stability and consistency they need to keep learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to become a trained teacher through this program?

We work primarily with motivated community members, including those with limited formal teaching experience, who are committed to educating children in their own communities.

What does the training cover?

Training includes literacy and numeracy instruction, child-friendly teaching methods, classroom management, and trauma-informed approaches to supporting displaced or crisis-affected children.

Is the training a one-time event?

No. We provide ongoing mentorship, classroom observation and refresher training to ensure teachers keep improving over time.

Why train local community members instead of bringing in outside teachers?

Local teachers understand the language, culture and needs of their community, and they're far more likely to stay long-term — giving children stability and consistency.
